Day 01 Arrive Queenstown

Met by a private car driver and transferred to your hotel.

The balance of the day is free.

Your accommodation is in a modern boutique hotel, which has only 14 en suite guest rooms. It is centrally located and has a guest sauna. Luxury grade room.

Day 02 Queenstown Highlights & Walter Peak Station (B.D.)

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning enjoy a three hour highlights tour of Queenstown and the surrounding area. Includes the panoramic views across Lake Wakatipu to the surrounding mountains from Queenstown Hill, a drive out to the Kawarau Bridge where you enjoy a behind the scenes tour (or take part) in the bungee jumping (extra cost), wine tasting at the Gibbston Valley Winery and a visit to historic Arrowtown, which was the site of a major 1860s gold rush. Optional Shotover Jetboat or Skyline Aerial Gondola can be added at extra cost.

Free afternoon.

 

TSS Earnslaw

 

Cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the 1912 vintage lake steamer TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak High Country Sheep and Cattle Show for a farm show and dinner at the homestead. On the return voyage enjoy a sing a long with the ship's pianist. Arrive back in Queenstown at 10 pm and make your own way back to the hotel.

Day 03 Fiordland National Park (B.L.)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Your choice today of a day trip to the splendid isolation of Doubtful Sound. Or a day trip to Milford Sound with a scenic flight back.

 

Milford Sound day excursion with Nature Cruise and scenic flight.

You will be collected from the resort for a full day tour to Milford Sound travelling one way by private car and the other by air. Drive around Lake Wakatipu and across the picturesque Southland countryside to Te Anau and Fiordland National Park. The scenery is stunning with high mountains and deep valleys carved out by Ice Age Glaciers. There are clear rushing streams and leaping waterfalls set in magnificent native rainforest.

On arrival at Milford take a Nature Cruise down the fiord past Mitre Peak to the open sea. Your on board Nature Guide will actively seek out seals, penguins and dolphins and other wildlife and point out the natural features on the area. Boxed lunch is served aboard


Milford Sound

 

After the boat berths, return to Queenstown on a wonderful scenic flight over the rugged mountains of Fiordland and Aspiring National Parks viewing lofty snow covered peaks, glaciers, mountain lakes, dense native rainforest from the air.

 

Doubtful Sound Day Excursion

From Queenstown travel around Lake Wakatipu in the lee of the Remarkables Ranges and across the picturesque Southland countryside to Manapouri.

Depart Manapouri and cruise across lovely Lake Manapouri by high speed launch to West Arm, where there is a large underground hydro power station. Here board a coach and drive across the Wilmot Pass through Fiordland National Park. This is one of the most remote parts of New Zealand - the isolation is splendid. On arrival at Deep Cove board the twin hulled catamaran for a 3 hour cruise down the fiord to the open sea. Seals and dolphins are often seen. The rare Fiordland Crested Penguins are also sometimes seen. A boxed lunch will be provided.

 

Doubtful Sound

 

In the afternoon return to Manapouri by coach over the Wilmott Pass and launch across Lake Manapouri arriving back at 5.30 pm. From here it is a 2 hour drive back to Queenstown.

Day 04 Depart Queenstown (B.)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Free until transfer to Queenstown Airport and check in for your flight.
