Day 1 Arrive Christchurch

Met by a private car driver and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is free.


Christchurch - The George

 

Your accommodations are in a luxury 5 star boutique hotel embodying Christchurch's cultural style and heritage. It has just 57 spacious guest rooms, which enjoy park or river views. The hotel is renowned for its ambience and high service standards. It is fully air-conditioned, has a tennis court and gym for guest use and a choice of two award winning restaurants. Day 2 Christchurch Sightseeing & Dolphins (B.)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Full day tour which features 5 of Christchurch's main attractions First stop is the International Antarctic Centre to learn about the exploration of the great Southern Continent. The tour then moves on to Willowbank Wildlife Reserve where you can see a variety of animal and bird life including New Zealand's emblem bird - the nocturnal Kiwi in a special day into night enclosure. Next enjoy a ride over 2.5 kms of track through the city centre on the Christchurch City tramway. In the afternoon take a Wildlife Cruise on Lyttelton Harbour to view the rare Hector's Dolphins - smallest in the world and one of the most rare species; plus other marine life. Your tour concludes with an excursion on the Christchurch Gondola to the top of Mt Cavendish from where there are panoramic views across Christchurch City and the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps in the distance. (duration 8 hours).

Day 3 Kaikoura Whale Watching (B.L.)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Then you will be collected from the hotel for a full day tour travelling across the sheep and cropping farmlands of the Canterbury Plains and up the Pacific Coast to Kaikoura for a whale watch cruise in a purpose built boat. The sea in this area is especially rich in nutrients, which attract a wide variety of sea life including Sperm Whales - the largest of all the toothed whales, which can be seen in these waters on 95% of days year round. There are also pods of playful Dusky Dolphins, seals, penguins and occasionally Orca can be seen.

 

Kaikoura Whale Watching

 

Lunch afterwards at either Finz Restaurant or the Aroma Café and Bar is included.

In the afternoon you will be taken to a seal colony where the fur seals may be viewed at close quarters. On the way back to Christchurch there will be a stop at one of the very good wineries in the Waipara Area where wine tasting has been arranged for you

Day 4 Depart Christchurch (B.)

Breakfast at the hotel

Free until transfer to Christchurch Airport and check in for your flight (or transfer to the Railway Station).
