Rail Journeys
Our train journeys are unique yet simple. What we have done is taken the best of Australia's rail services and used them to connect with the major attractions around the country. Instead of flying - take the train!!!. Here is your opportunity see more of Australia using a little extra time. Sights will include the countryside between Sydney and Melbourne, rural Victoria when you journey from Melbourne to Adelaide, the remoteness of the Outback in the Northern Territory. Travel over the longest stretch of straight track as you cross the Nullarbor on the Indian Pacific and enjoy the tropical Queensland Coast from Brisbane to Cairns.

In each stopover location (eg Sydney) we have included comprehensive sightseeing and a 2 or 3 night stay

The trains of Australia are also a great place to meet locals as well as people from around the world.
We will reserve first class seats on daylight trains and when an overnight service is required you will have a first class sleeper.

Since many of the services in Australia do not operate every day of the week, they tend to book up well in advance. We recommend early reservations to avoid disappointment.

The following are some of the train services that we use in our programs.

The Indian Pacific
An epic journey from coast to coast.  Discover for yourself why there's no other train journey on Earth quite like the Indian Pacific. Traveling between Sydney and Perth via Adelaide, the Indian Pacific covers 4,352 km (2,704 miles) through some of Australia's most breathtaking country. East coast to the west, immerse yourself in some of our nation's most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes, from the majestic Blue Mountains to the grand wilderness of the Nullarbor. It's an adventure that spans the continent.

The Ghan
A legendary journey through the heart of Australia.  As you immerse yourself in this transcontinental journey, you will soon understand how The Ghan became a legend, and just why it's one of the world's great train journeys. Traveling between Adelaide and Darwin, The Ghan covers 2,979 km (1850 miles) through the heart of Australia.

From Darwin, through the lush tropics of the north, the deserts of the continent's red heart via Alice Springs and finally the sandy beaches and green rolling hills of Adelaide in the south, you'll see and experience the very essence of Australia.

The Overland
An easy way to travel over land.  There's no more relaxing way to enjoy the trip between Melbourne and Adelaide than on The Overland. This train pioneered inter-capital rail travel in Australia, when the service first commenced in 1887. Three times every week, The Overland makes a daylight journey of 828km (514 miles), providing an ever changing vista which ranges from rugged mallee scrubland to fields of golden crops, over vast open plains and through gently rolling hills

XPT
Fast and efficient.  Introduced to CountryLink service in 1982 the XPT, short for "express passenger train", travels between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Dubbo, Grafton and Casino. Its aerodynamic design and trademark "nose" make a distinctive impression as it cruises through the countryside.
The XPT power car features a Paxman VP185 12-cylinder, turbo-charged diesel electric engine boasting 1492 kW or 2000 horsepower. There's a power car at each end of the train, one pulling and the other pushing.

Sunlander
Relax and enjoy the countryside.  Comfort, flexibility and a great social atmosphere have made 'The Sunlander' one of Australia's great journeys and a firm favourite with travelers between Brisbane and the Tropical North. With its two styles of travel, 'The Sunlander' caters for all travelers, from the very discerning to the budget conscious.
