The Lucky Country

Australia – ‘the last frontier’ – is a fascinating cultural mixture of many diverse races. This is the world’s sixth largest nation and although Britain started the growth on the European population during the 19th Century, many other nationalities have since flocked to enjoy the wide open spaces and seemingly limitless opportunities.

Australia is like no other place on earth. It is a land of amazing contrasts and new experiences. An island continent with thriving cities vast rural areas, pristine sandy beaches, tropical rainforests and unique wildflowers, birds and animals. Australia is about fifteen percent smaller in size than the continental United States and has a population of just over 21 million.

This country has often been called lucky because it seems to have more of almost everything.More snow in winter than the whole area of Switzerland. Huge tropical wetlands and swamps with more crocodiles than you’ve ever seen. More miles of tropical reef than anywhere else in the world. More remarkable plant life than just about anywhere else…species that were cut off from the mainstream of evolution 100 million years ago.

Anytime is a good time to visit. Winter is from June to August and is mild by North Hemisphere standards. It may sound ridiculous but most Aussie’s have never seen earmuffs or snowplows and don’t even own a pair of gloves. Summer is from December to March and the country shines.

No matter where you go in Australia, no matter what time of the year, you can enjoy blue skies, sunny days and fresh clear air. At night relax under a brilliant blanket of stars.

This is carefree, friendly Australia. Where there are more than enough choices to surprise the visitor. Come and visit ‘Downunder’ with one of our selection of holidays and you will see why Australia is called the ‘Lucky Country’.
