Africa is the world's second largest and second most populous continent and covers just over 20% of the world's total land area. There are 61 countries that make up the continent. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the west. Mediterranean Sea on the north, Red Sea and Indian Ocean on the east. The largest country is Sudan and the smallest is Gambia. The climate ranges from sub arctic on the highest peaks to tropical. The northern region is arid or desert while the southern and central regions are savanna plains and dense jungle. Africa has probably the world's largest of "range of freedom" of wild animals. These include lions, hyenas, cheetahs, buffalo, deer, elephants, camels and giraffes just to name a few. The wildlife provide a major attraction and draws people from around the world to view the many varieties that can be found. Africa is the most multilingual continental in the world with over 2000 different languages spoken.
Culturally it is the most diverse in the world. From mystical Casablanca, fascinating Cairo rural villages of Kenya and Tanzania to spectacular Cape Town, Africa has it all.
