Dubai
IN A LEAGUE OF ITS OWN
Dubai, which established itself firmly on the world
tourism map through an aggressive promotional agenda, is riding a
new wave of growth and expansion and remains an attractive place for
business and leisure travelers from across the world.
The emirate boasts of world-class infrastructure
and unique recreational facilities. Dubai offers tourists sunshine
year-round and the opportunity to explore the traditional Arabian
hospitality along with the modernity developed during the course of
three decades of well-planned, fast-track socio-economic development.
There has been significant increase over the years
in the number of visitors to Dubai due to a wide range of developments
in different walks of life and a big increase in the number of international
exhibitions and meetings taking place in the emirate.
Dubai is set to continue its fast pace of development
in the coming years, a trend that will bring more people to the emirate
as visitors and tourists, largely due to the expansion program of
the Emirates airline and the Dubai International Airport.
Dubai has been billed as the world's second most-favorite
international airport. Over 18 million passengers passed through Dubai
International Airport in 2003, an increase of 13 percent over the
previous year.
Today, Dubai is at par with many Western and developed nations that
have enjoyed much longer periods of socio-economic growth.
The emirate has stunned the world with some of its
landmarks and a host of innovative initiatives like the Dubai Shopping
Festival (DSF) and Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) – two pioneering
annual events that DTCM has been actively involved with and promoting
extensively overseas.
The emirate's world-class infrastructure, high standards
of living, exemplary safety levels, and the amazing cosmopolitan composition
have impressed the visitors from near and far.
Dubai's cruise tourism too is steaming into a bright
future, with Dubai positioning itself as the ultimate cruising destination
in the Arabian Gulf.
The future holds good prospects for Dubai as the
growth in different sectors, especially tourism, is expected to continue
its fast and sustainable pace. A number of ambitious and multi-million
dollar projects are underway or scheduled to take off in the near
future, adding further punch to Dubai’s appeal.
